B. D. KHER

Renowned journalist-author Mr. B. D. Kher has over 117 books to his credit. Over 25000 written pages have been published. Many of his books were very well received by the readers.

     At the age of 7 yrs, he decided to become a writer. That was not just a dream but his ambition. He was from a lawyer’s family. He too studied law but did not practice it.Before entering the ‘Kesari’ as an assistant editor, 10 to 15 books were to his credit.

     He was assistant editor of ‘Kesari’ for 20 yrs and was managing editor of ‘Sahyadree’ monthly for 10 yrs. He was one of the editors of the complete work of Lokamanya Tilak-(7000 pages) and also worked as an assistant editor of ‘Agrani’. He was an editor of the ‘Savarkar Sahitya Navneet’ as well.
     Mr. Kher is acclaimed as the pioneer of the biographical form of novel. He wrote his first biographical novel on the life of Veer Sawarkar – ‘Yagya’. All his writings were done with the sole aim of creating high moral standards in the society.
  As a State Guest, Mr. Kher travelled to Russia, England, Germany and Japan to collect the reference material for his novels. He was interviewed on NHK— Japan and delivered speech on Moscow Radio as well.

as: Soviet Land Nehru Award (twice), Maharashtra State Award, N. C. Kelkar award, Sahitya Parishad Award, Mrutunjay Award etc.
